It's just one week to go to the start of #MyDundeeChristmas - we've loved hearing from those of you who are planning on taking part! Many of you will be familiar with social media challenges like March Meet the Maker and Inktober, but for those of you who aren't we've got a mini series of blog posts coming up explaining how to get the most from a challenge like this. If you are taking part it's a good idea to shout about it - the more people who join in, the bigger the reach we'll have as a hashtag and community.
In this post we're looking at interpreting prompts! There is no right or wrong and we want you to get creative, make the prompt fit you and your brand. If you're really stuck, don't worry about skipping a day and just move on to the next one.
We hope this has been helpful. So now you can get your planner downloaded (and printed if you prefer working on paper) and start jotting down your ideas! We are so excited to launch #MyDundeeChristmas - A Christmas themed social media challenged brought to you by the Dundee Etsy Team, Mafalda Media and JillyJilly. This challenge will celebrate the independent business community in Dundee and highlight how we can support them this Christmas. We've created a list of festive prompts for you to use to share your brand's story and favourite things about Dundee this November. We'd love to see you all get creative and share photos every day - remember to use #MyDundeeChristmas and follow your hosts @etsydundee @mafaldamedia and @jillyjillydesign! Mafalda Media Is a Dundee based social media and digital marketing agency, run by Mafalda Johnson, who works with businesses to get the most from their online engagement. Mafalda Media is running our Social Media workshop at the Dundee Etsy Team Mini Summit. Jilly Noble is our team founder and Co-Captain, she is a local illustrator and commercial photographer who also runs JillyJilly, a handmade giftware brand. Jilly will be hosting the Product Photography workshop at our Mini Summit. We also have some fab special guest hosts - on the highlighted days there will be prizes up for grabs by local businesses who will pick their favourite photo of the day. From coffee shops to candle makers, if you're a small business owner share your story and encourage Dundonians to keep it local this Christmas. We'll be sharing some ideas for how the prompts can be interpreted along with social media photo tips and more over the coming weeks so check back soon! In the mean time, download your planner and spread the word! The Dundee Etsy Team ![]()

#MarchMeetTheMaker is an annual Instagram challenge organised by Joanne Hawker (designer, illustrator and Somerset Etsy Team Captain). It's a chance for makers to share their story and be part of a community for the month of March and give your social media a boost in the process. Lots of the Dundee Etsy Team took part so we thought we'd share a few snapshots on here.
